Orange pills
The Satoshi Cube you have just received is part of my art project on cryptocurrencies and the financial system. The plexiglass cube is filled with orange pills because “taking the orange pill” is when a person has became aware of the existence of Bitcoin and then spends countless hours trying to disprove the Bitcoin thesis; once a person has exhausted all arguments and finally accepts the conclusion that Bitcoin will inevitably be the next global reserve asset, they said to have been orange pilled.
On the front of the cube present a phrase: “If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry”. It is a famous saying quoted from Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto on the bitcointalk forum in 2010 that made history among the hackers and developers community.
Banknotes
The cube is filled with real USD banknotes, which have been shredded to symbolize how fiat currencies have been losing their buying power over the last decades. For instance, over the last 40 years, the US dollar lost 90% of its value. This was due to an "easy monetary policy" applied by the Fed, resulting in a weakening of the USD purchasing power. When developing Bitcoin back in 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto, wanted to overcome the inflation embedded into fiat currencies, creating an alternative that is both scarce and fixed (only 21 million bitcoin will ever been mined).
Wrapping your head around Bitcoin can be exhausting, partly because it is like nothing else in existence—a notion Satoshi was keenly aware of.
On July 29, 2010 (BitcoinTalk Forums) he wrote “If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry.”
